First thing I need to post about is my new workspace! I FINALLY have my own workspace! Makes me so happy :)
Anyway, the past week has been pretty hectic, and to think that it just gets worse over the semester kind of scares me a little, but its what I love and a friend once said that I enjoy "slaving over these kind of things" -- have to agree.
Oh have I mentioned the Art Store down the road called Eckersley's? The amount of time you go back and forth from there sometimes is just crazy. I've probably been there close to 10 times this week.
Art equipments are just plain expensive, but I can't deny the fact that they look so neat on my desk. I bought a pack of Copic markers yesterday and now I'm just in love with the way it looks sitting on my desk. Sigh.. I know, I'm crazy.
On another note, some people are just so talented in this course, whether you're in class watching people doodle cause they're bored, or while you're walking around the uni you'll see random drawings on the whiteboards etc... and it's just all so impressive. They motivate me. And I'm actually quite glad that we focus on drawing and sketching this semester. I haven't tried to do realistic sketches in way too long, its good practice.
Had Design Culture & Theory class today and ourtask was to research on Cubism then make it using our own faces, so about 3 hours of that class was dedicated to making this ugly thing: (I just have to make a note that I really dislike this style of art haha!)
How freaky does that look! Haha! And to think we have to make that our book cover... Sigh... Oh well, so that pretty much sums up my week. Here's a shot of our Design Culture classroom, it reminds me of high school.
A very interesting clip that was shown to us in our Ideas Generation lecture this morning. Its interesting because this short video was filmed entirely by using a cell phone. Very original stuff.
First of all I would like to say that I had made the best decision of my life by enrolling at Billy Blue. For the past few years I felt like I was lost in a time capsule of never ending misery. Not saying that Chinese Medicine was all that bad, just it REALLY wasn't my thing. (I studied Health Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine at UTS for the past 4 years.)
Orientation week was pretty much just introducing us to the college facilities and meeting new people, which was all pretty exciting. The college isn't really that big, but it has that 'familiar' kind of feeling, it kind of reminds me of my high school with all the apple computers and so on.
In Summary, I guess this has been a pretty fulfilling week for me, and after all that I guess I'm still quite excited about starting classes officially next week. Also thinking of joining some optional classes for computer skills that might give me some extra tips on Illustrator and other software that I would be using in the future.
Putting aside all the design stuff, I have actually worked at correcting my sleeping patterns which had been stuffed up for the past... don't even remember. Sleeping at 6am and waking up at 6pm the next day is such a waste of a day. So I'm feeling very good about myself these days, going to sleep before 12.00am and waking up feeling nice, refreshed and ready for morning classes, LOL gay as it sounds, I get excited to go to college. Still skipping breakfast, need time to adjust to that, but a large carrot and orange juice every morning is good enough to last till lunch breaks.
Anyway, below are some random photos here and there from this week:
